A heart’s desire

When our hearts desire something, all we want is to have it right then. Nothing can stand in our way.

Yet, there are so many times when being patient is also required before getting the want.

In Psalm 37:4 it says “Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” As we grow in the Lord, we find that the things we desire are the things that God has placed in our hearts. One day, our desires will be fulfilled. God promises that.

Later on in the chapter, in verse 34, it says “Wait on the Lord, And keep His way, And He shall exalt you to inherit the land; When the wicked are cut off, you shall see it.” When we wait on the Lord, we see His mighty hand working in ways we would not usually see had we gotten the desire of our heart right away.

Waiting patiently for whatever the desire may be, will be the most fruitful and amazing thing. Once the desire has been given, keeping it will be fought for like nothing else.
